A SLWLA Logosizable crowd is expected at Westside Park Community Center tonight for what is shaping up to be a showdown vote between those who support the decision by the Seven Lakes West Landowners Association [SLWLA] Board of Directors to permanently close the roadway over Lake Auman Dam, and those who support the Dam Road Group’s position that the question of whether or not to close the road should be decided by a vote of the membership.

Registration begins at 6:00 pm and closes promptly at 7:00 pm, when the meeting will be gaveled to order. For members who can't attend or don’t want to attend, but would like to vote, proxy forms are available at the office and may be pre-registered today. Each lot is entitled to a single vote and a proxy may be assigined to any other landowners qualified to vote at the meeting.

The member-called Special Meeting will be presided over by Palmer Sugg, an attorney with Robbins May & Rich, the Westside Board's outside counsel. Sugg is known to be an expert in Roberts Rules of Order and will also act as parliamentarian. Sugg's colleague, Stephen Later, was originally scheduled to handle those duties and is expected to take part in the adminstration of tonight's meeting.

Those wishing to speak at the meeting will be acknowledged only once and must be signed-up in advance. A sheet will be available at the office today and also during the registration process this evening.

As announced at the Tuesday, December 14, SLWLA Work Session, the agenda includes a period for discussion and debate followed by a call of the question -- with the exact nature and framing of that question to be determined by the proceedings.

However, prior to any discussion, there will be a declaration of quorum status. If a quorum of the membership is not achieved [approximately 175 landowners present or submitting proxies], the meeting will be adjourned without a vote.
