Anna Caiati Pena, 79, of Seven Lakes, died Saturday, March 7, at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care, Pinehurst. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pinehurst on Tuesday, March 10.

 

A Native New Yorker, she had resided in Seven Lakes for the past twenty years.

Mrs. Pena’s professional career was primarily as partner in her husband Pete’s Tax and Accounting practice, performing all secretarial and bookkeeping services.

For several years after retiring to Seven Lakes, she became the Church Administrator at Our Lady of the Americas Catholic Church in Biscoe. For the last nine years, she had served as an Administrative Assistant at the Sandhills Children’s Center in Southern Pines.

She was known as the “Professional Volunteer” and had over forty years of volunteer service with various organizations including the Good Samaritan Hospital of Suffern, New York, each of the Catholic churches she attended, and the Sandhills Children’s Center.

She was a devout practicing Catholic and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas Caiati and Katherine Caiati, and her brother, Nicholas Caiati.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years, Peter J. Pena; daughter, Terry Gasperino (Michael) of Mebane; son, Peter Pena (Rita) of Seven Lakes; four grandsons, Sean Gasperino, Zachary Gasperino, Peter Pena, Vincent Pena; two great-grandchildren, Sarah Gasperino and Michael Gasperino.
