James Curtis Thompson, 82, of West End died Wednesday, September 4 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. A visitation will be held Friday September 6, 2013 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 at the Boles Funeral Home in Seven Lakes. A funeral service will be held 2PM Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Priest Hill Presbyterian Church in Carthage with the Rev. Archie Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Doubs Chapel Church Cemetery.

Mr. Thompson was born in Wilson County North Carolina to the late Ray and Janie (Byrd) Thompson.

He retired from security after 26 years with the Pinehurst Hotel and Resort. He was an avid farmer who enjoyed working with his tractor and gardening after retirement. He served as a retired member of the Eastwood Volunteer Fire Dept.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary McKenzie Thompson. Two sons, James Mark Thompson and wife Linda of Thomasville, NC; and Jeremy Kenneth Thompson and wife Sharon of Pittsboro, NC; a sister Eula Gray Ingram of High Point, NC; a grandson, Kevin Thompson, and granddaughter, Charlotte Nolen, two great grandchildren, Joshua and Dylan Padilla.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Thompson and Kenny Thompson.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in memory of James Curtis Thompson to the Eastwood Volunteer Fire Department at 980 NC Hwy 73 West End, NC 27376
